What you need to know

  • Five separate play areas dotted across the park, so younger and older kids can each find something
  • Designed around shade, with around 1,000 trees and leafy arches that keep it cool on hot days
  • Wide, flat paths suit scooters and balance bikes; ping-pong, pétanque and basketball courts too

About

A 5.5-hectare park by architect Jean Nouvel, built around the theme of shade, with roughly 1,000 Mediterranean trees, palms and bougainvillea-draped perimeter walls. For families the appeal is space and variety: several play areas dotted through the park, plus pétanque courts, table-tennis, basketball hoops and wide paths that are great for scooters and bikes. On-site facilities are limited, so bring water.
