Which days does it play?

Weekends only, from Saturday, Oct 17 to Sunday, Nov 1. Most shows start at noon. Sunday, Oct 25 has a 4:30pm show only, and Oct 31 and Nov 1 have both noon and 4:30pm.

How much are tickets?

The theater's own ticket page lists seats at €15, currently offered at €12, plus a €1.80 booking fee per ticket. Kids under 2 are free if they sit on a lap.

Can we get in if we're running late?

No. The theater does not let anyone in once the show has started, so it's worth arriving a few minutes early.

Is the whole show in Catalan?

Yes. Sala Ars lists Catalan as the show's only language. The theater bills it as a comedy with music and a few fun frights. Three costumed actors play the chestnut seller, a boy, a girl, pumpkin-headed Jack and a witch, so a kid still learning Catalan has plenty to watch between the spoken jokes.

About

Every autumn the Castanyera comes down from the mountain to roast chestnuts in the city square. This year the kids only want Halloween costumes and candy, so she decides it's time to reinvent herself, and not every idea goes to plan. It's a gentle way into the two traditions that share October 31 in Barcelona. The show is in Catalan, with costumed characters, including a pumpkin-headed Jack, to help kids still learning it follow along.
