Heads up on dates: the festival runs July 8 to 12, but the balloons themselves fly July 9 to 12. That is when the dawn and late-afternoon launches happen, plus the Night Glow after dark. If you are coming for the balloons, aim for the 9th through the 12th.
At the European Balloon Festival, over 50 hot air balloons participate in exhibitions, tethered flights, and simultaneous launches across four days. The program includes children's workshops on recycling and environmental themes, wind igloos hosting daily activities, live concerts, photography competitions, and a Night Glow spectacle. Most activities are free; paid balloon flights require advance reservation.
