Question 1

What time should we actually arrive to get a decent spot?

Accepted Answer

Get there by 5pm if you want to be close to the route; the parade starts around 6pm and fills up fast. If you're flexible on viewing distance, 5:30pm is still workable, but much later and you'll be watching from the back or side streets. Bring a blanket or camp chairs if you want to sit comfortably for an hour before it starts.

Question 2

Is there anywhere to grab food or drinks while we're waiting?

Accepted Answer

The area around Plaça Universitat has cafes and bars, but they'll be packed. Bring water and snacks with you, especially if you have young kids who get restless waiting. There will be vendors along the route, but prices are marked up and lines move slowly.

Question 3

How do we get there by metro and where do we exit?

Accepted Answer

Take L1 or L2 to Universitat station; it's a 2-minute walk to Plaça Universitat where the parade starts. The area gets crowded, so if you're coming from the airport or far out, aim to arrive by 4:30pm to avoid the worst crush on the metro.

Question 4

What's the vibe like with kids, and when should we leave?

Accepted Answer

The daytime parade itself is genuinely fun for kids: loud music, bright floats, people in costumes. It's energetic but not rowdy at 6pm. Head out right after the parade ends rather than sticking around for the evening, since the crowd shifts and the parties that follow aren't designed for families.
